A raggy dog, a shaggy dog

Helmet Compulsory

Traffic Police in Madurai stops two wheeler riders and gives a bit paper. It is by the Government of Tamil Nadu, Home (TPT.V) Department. The content is given below:

This is to inform the public that wearing of helmet by two wheeler driver and rider is compulsory from 01. 07. 2015, failing which, all the documents of the two wheeler including the driving licence of the driver shall be impounded under section 206 of the Motor Vehicles Act, 1988 as per the procedure stated therein and the impounded documents would be released only on production of new ISI certified helmet with purchase receipt.

Madurai Chithirai Festival 2015

Chiththirai Thiruvizha 2015

Tamil month Chithirai is celebrated grand in Madurai in the form of festival. It is a world class festival. The Thiruvizha begins on 20 April 2015. The Urchavam (Utsav) is between 21 April 2015 and 02 May 2015.

The festival is celebrated for 12 days during Chithirai (April – May). Saivam and vaishnavam are blended in this festival. The first half of the festival is celebrated for Goddess Meenakshi. The rest is for Azhagar.

Important events:

Pattabhishekam of Goddess Meenakshi is on28 April 2015.  Thirukkalyanam of Lord Sundareswarar with Goddess Meenakshi is called Celestal Wedding. It is on 30 April 2015. The Car festivalis called Ther Thiruvizha or Radh Utsav It is on 01 May 2015. Chithirai Thiruvizha 2015 ends on 02 May 2015.
